Welcome to SchoolPlus Russian Program

Knowing several languages is always beneficial, but besides this obvious reason our children attend Russian classes in order to preserve Russian as their family language. Most of our Russian language students are children of immigrants from Russia. For a lot of these children, though English is the first language, for their parents and grandparents it is Russian. Most children speak Russian in the family, but to have a good vocabulary, reading and writing skills children need structure and also the opportunities to use Russian language outside the family. That is why they take Russian lessons in our school.

Our experienced and talented teachers nurture children's creativity and interest in Russian Language by finding great reading materials appropriate for the children's age and skills (which is often very hard to do), organizing competitions, theatrical plays, publishing magazines of children's poems and short stories, discussing books and movies. Sometimes adults join our Russian classes too, in case one parent speaks Russian and the other does not, or if a person learned a little Russian as a child, but now wants to refresh and improve his or her knowledge.

In our bilingual Summer Camp children have Russian language lessons 4 days a week. Besides these lessons most other lessons and activities are held in Russian as well.

Our classes for little children (kindergarten - 1st grade) are very fun. The main goal for 3-4 year olds is the development of speech. 5-7-year-old children learn how to read and write. Our professional Russian kindergarten teachers use well-known Zaitsev's methods, great books fun games and activities to make lessons exciting and highly productive.

The purpose of the classes for Elementary school is to practice and improve reading and writing skills, to learn grammar appropriate for this age level, to stimulate creativity in using the language.

The main goal of our classes for Middle School is to learn how to write essays, improve vocabulary, express more complicated thoughts and ideas in words and on paper.

We offer classes for High School students as well. They learn about Russian literature, history, and culture.

In our bilingual Summer Camp children have Russian language lessons 4 days a week. Besides these lessons most other lessons and activities are held in Russian as well.
